Older Adult Assistance
Powered by DUOS, helping older adults live full lives at home
The older adult population in the US is becoming more significant than ever, shifting our nation’s demographics and health and social demands. Among the 73 million in the US, about 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 every day. By 2030, all boomers will be at least 65 years old. By 2034, older adults are projected to outnumber children under age 18 for the first time in US history.[1]
In addition to their sheer numbers, baby boomers have different expectations than their predecessors. Nearly 90% want to age at home[2], but will end up living alone, increasing the risk of accidents, loneliness, nutrition issues, transportation problems and the like. Magellan Healthcare’s Senior Assistance, powered by DUOS, combines human contact with technology that can address these concerns, enabling older adults to live full lives in their own homes on their own terms.
Our solution pairs older adults with a trained personal assistant, or Duo. Members connect with their Duos through texts, phone calls or video chats. During regular check-ins, Duos:
- Provide companionship
- Help manage social determinants of health
- Assist with social determinants of aging
The DUOS platform aggregates all members’ insurance benefits and free community resources to address social determinants of health. Members work with their Duos to connect with social support and resources to manage:
- Healthcare access
